Your sense of accuracy and attention to detail will strengthen the patient-physician relationship, as they rely on you for the insurance information necessary to deliver expert care.

Responsibilities

Provides professional, accurate, timely insurance verification and notification for laboratory services. Obtains benefit information and ensures pre-authorization and/or primary care referral in place for above services. May specialize in payor type such as Workers Compensation, Commercial, Blue Cross, Medicare, Medicaid, OHP, or MVA/Liability. Acts as a resource to patients, family members, physicians and other departments regarding insurance coverage/benefits.

Qualifications

Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience:
One year of healthcare clerical experience or healthcare admitting experience or applicable insurance billing or credit/collections experience. Healthcare insurance verification experience preferred. Education may be substituted for experience requirement.

Skills :
Demonstrated knowledge of contracts, Payor/Plan codes, insurance laws, and insurance companies.
Knowledge of online eligibility systems and status review of claims.
Net Typing of 40 wpm and PC based computer skills.
10 key proficiency.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Works efficiently with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment within stated guidelines.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills which promote cooperation and teamwork.
Ability to withstand varying job pressures, organize/prioritize related job tasks, and excellent attention to detail.
Excellent public relations skills and demonstrated ability to communicate in calm, businesslike manner.
Ability to multitask, learn new skills and adapt to change.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team.
