Deschutes County Health Services supports over 400 staff in Behavioral and Public Health programs working to promote and protect the health and safety of the community in a broad variety of community based settings.
The department offers services at more than 40 locations in Deschutes County including public schools; health clinics in Bend, La Pine, Redmond and Sisters; five school-based health clinics; agencies such as the KIDS Center and the State of Oregon Department of Human Services; area hospitals; care facilities and homes.

ABOUT THE JOB:
The Immunization Program Coordinator participates in the management, planning, and implementation of the Immunization Program, which includes direct clinical services to clients of the Deschutes County Immunization Clinic. In addition to staffing the immunization clinic, duties include organizing agency and community events such as offsite vaccination clinics and clinical outbreak response events. This position supports development of programs and interventions with the goal of increasing community immunization rates; providing education and training to health care partners, schools, day cares, and the community; assuring that County, State, and Federal Program requirements are met; and evaluating and preparing program reports. Position requires collaboration with community agencies, media, internal clinic staff, and other health services programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, other agencies, and the public at all times.
- Participating in health-related program planning and evaluation; and writing skills to prepare presentations, research reports, and develop policies and procedures.
- Delivering presentations and facilitating meetings on health related topics for a variety of audiences including employees, community partners, and the general public in small or large group settings.
- Vaccine administration, ordering, inventory management and accountability.
- Assessing gaps in immunization services in the community and partnering with community partners to address those gaps.
- Coordinating with community partners and other staff to provide safety net immunization clinics as needed.
What You Will Bring:
Knowledge of or experience with:
- Communicating effectively both in writing and verbally to small and larger audiences.
- Writing grants or contract proposals.
- Public health nursing principles and practices.
- Coordinating large and small immunization clinics.
- Oregon Immunization Laws and School Exclusion Workflows.
Skill in:
- Basic epidemiology and understanding of disease symptoms, causes, transmission and control concepts.
- Nursing assessment and intervention skills in specialty area.
- Administering vaccines to all ages (pediatric and adult).

Compensation
$5,908.27 to $7,917.64 per month for a 172.67 hour work month. Salary normally starts at the first step. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This union-represented position is available immediately.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Nursing;
- AND two (2) years of relevant experience;
- OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the job.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Clinical experience and prior knowledge of immunization principles and administration is preferred.
- Prior experience coordinating immunization clinics.
- Experience using electronic health records (EHR).
Necessary Special Requirements
Driving is a requirement for this position. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.
This position is located in Deschutes County and may be eligible for hybrid of in-office/remote work as allowed by policy and approved by the supervisor.
- Registered Nurse License in the State of Oregon.
- Possession of or ability to obtain BLS CPR within 30 days of hire date.
Physical Requirements :
Requires sufficient ambulatory ability to drive throughout Deschutes County and to provide face-to-face services in a variety of settings in the community, including but not limited to hospitals, jails, clinics, client homes, and community and residential settings within required response times. Must have the ability to work in an office that is environmentally controlled; possess sufficient hand coordination to perform keyboarding and data entry; arm/hand movements to retrieve work materials and operate a variety of general office equipment; and an ability to sit, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, reach, stand, grasp, talk, hear, see, and lift up to 10 pounds on an occasional basis.
